Helping Huberman Lab Turn Science Insights into Practical Learning
Huberman Lab’s library grew faster than its website could organize it. We rebuilt it in Webflow as a searchable science platform, so listeners can find the exact answer they’re looking for, straight from the source.

The challenge
Huberman Lab began as a podcast with a small back catalog, and a simple WordPress site handled it fine. Then the show became one of the most-listened-to health podcasts in the world. By the time we were brought in, the library had passed 150 episodes and 300 hours of material. The site hadn’t grown with it.
Search only looked at episode titles. A listener trying to find what Dr. Huberman said about sleep, focus, or cold exposure had to guess which episode it was in and then scrub through hours of audio. Most people gave up.
That gap had a real cost. When people can’t find answers at the source, they find them somewhere else. Clips and summaries from unofficial channels spread widely, often stripped of context. For a brand whose mission is free, accurate science education, a hard-to-search website was more than a UX problem. It was letting misinformation fill the space.
Our approach
Designing for discovery
We led design, UX, and development, working alongside Huberman Lab’s team and their strategy partner, Double Up. Our job was to turn a sprawling archive into something people could actually use, from the overall page structure down to the smallest interaction.
A CMS built around how people learn
We built the CMS to support a framework of 22 topics and 90+ subtopics, so every episode, newsletter, and protocol has a clear place to live. The templates and collections are designed to scale, so new topics and content types can be added without rebuilding anything.
Search that goes past the title
We integrated Algolia to index more than 4,000 timestamped clips. Listeners can search a concept and land on the exact moment it’s discussed. They can also filter by format, including solo episodes, AMAs, guest interviews, and newsletters. Searching one term now surfaces every relevant mention across the entire catalog.
Publishing that keeps pace with the show
Huberman Lab records, edits, reviews, and publishes on a tight weekly cycle, often over a single weekend. We built a modular CMS so their team can publish episodes, summaries, and protocol updates quickly without calling a developer. Because they work weekends, we’re available when they are.
Keeping a complex project organized
Running a large migration with several stakeholders meant everything needed a single source of truth. We tracked the sitemap, URL changes, and redirects in Airtable, so nothing was lost between platforms. A shared Slack channel kept everyone up to date on where things stood at all times.
Results
The impact showed up in the first month after launch.
Conversion
- Site conversion rate rose from 3% to 11% in the first month after launch
- Conversion has settled at around 6%, double the pre-launch baseline
- 100%+ increase in average weekly email signups
- 100%+ increase in Premium Membership sales
Engagement
- Daily searches more than doubled, with listeners going deeper into the archive than ever before
- 300+ hours of content and 4,000+ clips are now discoverable
Impact beyond the website
- Premium memberships, matched dollar for dollar by The Tiny Foundation, helped Huberman Lab contribute more than $500,000 to scientific research in the first year
What’s next
We still work with Huberman Lab, shipping improvements based on testing and user feedback. Most recently, we supported the launch of Dr. Huberman’s book, Protocols. Webflow gives us room to grow alongside the business instead of hitting the limits of a rigid system. For us, the most rewarding part has been knowing the work serves something bigger than the site itself. Every page we built helps make trustworthy science easier to find.

"As a small team with uncompromising standards for quality, we're inherently cautious about the partners we work with. It's not easy to meet our level of expectation — much less exceed it. 8020 not only met our standards but exceeded them in every aspect."
